“Protests in Kyrgyzstan”
Kirstin Schrier, currently living in Bishkek, reflects on the Occupy Wall Street protests while living in a country very familiar with political and social protesting. When an expat cannot vote in the country they live in and has not returned to her passport country in many months or years, is there anywhere or anything worth protesting? Politically, do you have a say in your country?
“Until Brazil Excerpt by Bethe Lee Moulton”
Bethe Lee Moulton shares an excerpt from her novel about international business and self discovery. We can relate when Moulton says, “There are soul mates who’ve had the wrenching experience of feeling like a traitor to the old while embracing the new.”
“Beomeosa”
Shannon Chalfant is back on Jetsettlers letting us know what we “must see” in South Korea. Chalfant writes with humor about taking advantage of the cultural attractions in her new residence and reminds us that we live in amazing places. Go enjoy them, and if you are ever in South Korea, climb a mountain and visit a temple.
“Issyk-Kul”

We’re a little bit jealous of Kirstin Schrier. Two posts on Jetsettlers this week and some dreamy shots of an almost abandoned beach and amusement park during the off-season in Kyrgyzstan. Be sure to click the images to see the hi-res versions. The water may not have been warm enough to swim in when Schrier visited, but Kyrgyzstan’s most well-known tourist destination seems like a worthy photo opportunity all year round.
“Life Somewhere Else”
American Adam Peterson discovers that a traveller’s eyes are not the same as a resident’s eyes when his mom comes to visit Busan, South Korea. He realizes that even in an exotic new country, the newness and excitement wears off, but it’s important to enjoy the places we’re lucky enough to see and experiences we are lucky enough to have.
